6-Rivers Wilderness Adventures provides opportunities
and supports participants at all levels of The Duke
of Edinburgh’s Award Program by offering the
following trips:

Preliminary Training -
As the first step in the Expedition phase, these four-to-five
hour workshops give the participants an opportunity
to learn about many facets of camping in a controlled
setting. Topics covered include:
- Map reading and compass work
- First Aid and safety
- Meal planning and cooking
- Site selection
- Clothing and equipment
- Wilderness "Code of Ethics"
Practice Trips - This phase
is intended to prepare individuals for an overnight
journey. For $75.00 per participant, young people will
practice specific activities such as canoeing, hiking,
biking, etc. They will also review map and compass work,
First Aid, safety, Wilderness "Code of Ethics"
and much more. Practice trips are one day (24 hours),
with one overnight.
Overnight Qualifying Expeditions
& Explorations - Participants practice what
they have learned in order to promote self-reliance,
personal growth and leadership through a journey of
discovery. The three levels include:
- Bronze Award - 2 days / 1 night
- Silver - 3 days / 2 night
- Gold - 4 days / 3 nights
Residential Projects –
Develop social adaptability through involvement with
others in a group setting.
- Residential Trips - 5 days / 4 nights
Keeping in mind the objectives and requirements of
the Residential Project, we are prepared to assist in
creating an experience that promotes change, growth
and personal achievement through a program that takes
participants out of their comfort zones and introduces
them to new and exciting adventures.
Community Service Projects
– Encourage participants to take responsibility
and to become contributing member of their community.
6-Rivers has many community partnerships that support
youth in completing their community service hours.
